Cuaderno complementario: enfermedades genéticas, su historia y el reflejo de estas en pinturas célebres / Complementary notebook: Genetic diseases, their history and the reflection of these in famous paintings

Resumen

Las enfermedades genéticas han estado presentes en toda la evolución humana y han sido registradas en importantes obras artísticas. Resulta significativa la transmisión de estos conocimientos durante las clases de Genética Médica para incrementar el acervo cultural de nuestros estudiantes. Conociendo lo difícil que resulta la comprensión de estos temas y la dificultad de no contar con la literatura básica que recoja estos contenidos, se plantea como problema: ¿Cómo contribuir a la preparación científica de los estudiantes sobre los conocimientos de las enfermedades genéticas, su historia y la vinculación con obras de arte? Para dar solución se propone diseñar un cuaderno complementario que contenga la relación existente entre determinadas enfermedades genéticas, su historia y el reflejo de estas en pinturas célebres, para la preparación científica-humanística de los estudiantes. Hacia la confección del trabajo se consideraron: la organizaciónplanificación y el diseño del cuaderno. Cada autor hizo su propuesta individual y después del análisis colectivo y el criterio de los expertos se conformó su estructura final. El cuaderno consta de las descripciones genéticas y clínicas de cuatro enfermedades genéticas, la historia natural de cada una y las estrategias para prevenirlas; así como sus representaciones en pinturas de gran valor artístico. Según los autores, este es un material que favorece la motivación y el interés de los estudiantes por el estudio de la disciplina y por la investigación sobre esta temática, lo cual contribuye a su desarrollo como futuro profesional de la salud.

ABSTRACT 

Genetic diseases have been present throughout human evolution and have been recorded in important artistic works. It is significant the transmission of this knowledge during Medical Genetics classes
to increase the cultural heritage of our students. Knowing how difficult it is to understand these issues and the difficulty of not having basic literature that collects these contents, the following problem arises: How to contribute to the scientific preparation of students on the knowledge of genetic diseases, their history and the link with works of art? To solve it, it is proposed to design a complementary notebook that contains the relationship between certain genetic diseases, their history and the reflection of these in famous paintings, for the scientific-humanistic preparation of the students. For the preparation of the work they were considered: the organization- Planning and design of the notebook. Each author made his individual proposal and after the collective analysis and the criteria of experts his final structure was conformed. The notebook consists of the genetic and clinical descriptions of four genetic diseases, the natural history of each and the strategies to prevent them; as well as his representations in paintings of great artistic value. According to the authors, this is a material that favors the motivation and interest of the students for the study of the discipline and for research on this subject, which contributes to their development as a future health professional.
